Food becomes an issue in
surviving any disaster. During Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita, the Federal Government Shipped in Army MRE’s. With the Federal Government gone, we cannot
expect such to take place. It would be wise to take steps now, such as
learning how to grow a garden, care for and maintain livestock, plant an
orchard, grow food in window boxes (for apartment dwellers), stock up on canned goods and other non-perishables. In
other words, do what must be done to have enough food on hand for a long-term struggle. How long?
One
cannot say for sure how long your supplies should last, but based on what was
seen from the former Soviet Union, 6 months to a years supply would be wise;
more if possible. Remember, this is only
the minimum for survival; if you wish to thrive in the aftermath and enter the
new economy in good shape, more is required, for any excess can be shared or bartered.
The
